The Ministry of Finance and Economic Management, through its Major Projects and Procurement Support Division, is helping introduce 10 new electric motorbikes for Community Safety and Monitoring work in Rarotonga.

The motorbikes are being provided with support from the Government of the People’s Republic of China, as part of its development cooperation with the Cook Islands.

The purpose is simple: the bikes will help local Puna move around more easily, be more visible, and respond more quickly when they are needed.

These motorbikes are for community safety and monitoring work. They will support local Puna with regular monitoring, outreach, and community safety activities around Rarotonga.

Members of the Puna have already met with the MPPS team and are looking forward to receiving the motorbikes. They see them as a practical tool that will help with local monitoring, reduce fuel costs, and support safer community practices.

The project includes:

  • 10 electric motorbikes for community safety and monitoring work.

  • Chargers that can plug into normal power outlets at community buildings.

  • Charging equipment that works with the Cook Islands power supply.

Because the motorbikes are electric, they will also help reduce the need for petrol and support cleaner transport in Rarotonga.

Andre Tuiravakai from MPPS said the motorbikes are a practical investment in community wellbeing. He said they will help local Puna carry out their work, reduce running costs, and support cleaner transport options across Rarotonga.

This project shows how practical support can help communities directly. It also shows the value of partnerships that respond to local needs and help build safer, better-connected communities.

Love seeing eco-friendly solutions for local communities. Almost as satisfying as making it through a tough level in Slope 2 Game!

I recently discovered Drive Mad through a gaming forum. The combination of timing, balance, and momentum creates a surprisingly addictive gameplay loop.

I sometimes open Cool Games while waiting for my coffee to cool down. It is a fun way to fill those few extra minutes.
