Key Facts

Total arrivals for the month of September 2020 was 140 of which 96 are returning Cook Islanders. A total number of 122 departures left for a short term or permanently. Since April 16th this year, Cook Islands declared "as a COVID-19 free zone" however the escalating threat of the pandemic COVID-19 has forced countries to continue to close their borders.

With one international flight a week, there are exemptions applied to the border closure that allows for returning Cook Islanders and work permit holders to return to Rarotonga provided they undertake two weeks supervised quarantie in Auckland and again here on Rarotonga.
