1. TREASURER
The Ministry of Finance and Economic Management (MFEM) will review its internal operations and will result in restructuring divisions; this can change the responsibilities of the Treasurer.
The Treasurer reports directly to the Financial Secretary and is responsible for the effective and efficient management of tax matters in the Cook Islands. The Treasurer should possess proven management skills (at least 5 years experience); including the ability to nurture and develop staff to a high standard to administer the Income Tax Act, Value Added Tax Act, Import Levy Act and where applicable the Customs Act. The position requires significant knowledge of, and ability to meet the requirements of the relevant Acts, and other legislation of the Cook Islands. It also requires significant experience in the application of the discretionary powers of the Collector as provided under the Income Tax Act, Value Added Tax Act, and Import Levy Act. Applicants should possess a tertiary qualification in commerce and a professional qualification, either a CA or CPA. Ability to speak and write in Cook Islands Maori would be an advantage.
